CLARIFICATION TEXT ON PROTECTION OF PERSONAL DATA
As the Konrad Adenauer Foundation Turkey (“Foundation”), we display utmost sensitivity regarding safety of your personal data. Therefore, we attach great importance to processing and preservation of any personal data belonging to all individuals associated with the Foundation, including those who use our products and services as the Foundation in accordance with the Law on Protection of Personal Data no: 6698. Within this scope, our Foundation takes all technical and administrative measures to ensure the appropriate safety level with a view to prevention of unlawful processing of, unlawful access to and protection of your personal data in accordance with the Laws and Regulations on protection of basic rights and liberties, including the right to privacy, and protection of personal data.
This text addresses all real persons whose personal data are processed, excluding the staff of our Foundation or any candidate who applies for a job in our Foundation.
The personal data means, as per the Clarification Text hereby, “any piece of information regarding a real person whose identity is known or who is identifiable” as also specified in the Law. To this end, you can find below the reason why your data are processed, to whom and with which purposes the processed data can be transferred, the method of collecting your personal data and the legal reason for collection as well as your rights regarding your personal data which include:
1. Collection of Your Personal Data
Your personal data are collected upon your participation in an event organized exclusively by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation Turkey or jointly with another partner. The Foundation can match the data collected from you at different times or in different ways such as online or offline, and use them in accordance with the Law and the Clarification Text hereby.
2. Processing of Personal Data
The Foundation requests from you your personal data that are collected through the channels specified as per the Clarification Text hereby, which will help the Foundation to meet the relevant objectives and legal obligations, to serve you better and to conduct statistical studies in accordance with the legal obligations and service standards as per the primary and secondary regulations including the Law on Regulation of E-commerce no:6563, the Law on Protection of Personal Data no: 6698, the Law on Consumer Protection no: 6502 and the Regulation on Distance Contracts.
Your personal data is collected based on the legal reason of legal interest of the Foundation under the event organized by the Foundation provided that it shall not give any harm to basic rights and liberties of the relevant person specified as per sub-paragraph f of the2nd

- Information about your working experience (Your professional title and the name of your organisation)

The Foundation can match the data collected from you at different times or in different ways such as online or offline, and use them in accordance with the Law and the Clarification Text hereby.
2. Processing of Personal Data
The Foundation requests from you your personal data that are collected through the channels specified as per the Clarification Text hereby, which will help the Foundation to meet the relevant objectives and legal obligations, to serve you better and to conduct statistical studies in accordance with the legal obligations and service standards as per the primary and secondary regulations including the Law on Regulation of E-commerce no:6563, the Law on Protection of Personal Data no: 6698, the Law on Consumer Protection no: 6502 and the Regulation on Distance Contracts.
Your personal data is collected based on the legal reason of legal interest of the Foundation under the event organized by the Foundation provided that it shall not give any harm to basic rights and liberties of the relevant person specified as per sub-paragraph f of the2nd
paragraph of Article 5 of the Law and it shall not be used under any scope or for any purpose beyond the text hereby. The above-mentioned personal data will be processed for the following purposes:
The above-mentioned personal data will be processed, stored for the legal storage period or for a period required by the data storage purpose or continue to be used by our Foundation for a period of time that is required by the very purpose of processing provided that they shall not be used under any scope or for any purpose beyond the Clarification Text hereby and by taking all due information safety measures. Once the relevant time period expires, your personal data will be taken out from data flow of our Foundation by being deleted, destructed or anonymised.
The information shared with the Foundation may sometimes include your personal data of special categories. As per Article 6 of the Law, personal data of special categories refer to “the personal data relating to the race, ethnic origin, political opinion, philosophical belief, religion, religious sect or other belief, appearance, membership to associations, foundations or trade-unions, data concerning health, sexual life, criminal convictions and security measures, and the biometric and genetic data”.
Thus, we would like to inform that any photograph or video of yours recorded during an event shall not be used to identify you.
3. Sharing of Personal Data
The Foundation shares the personal data of participants and speakers with third persons only upon explicit consent thereof and no data is shared with third persons without explicit consent as a rule.
As per sub-paragraph f of Article 5 of the Law, your personal data collected in accordance with Article [1] of the Clarification Text hereby and processed for the purposes specified in Article [2] of the Clarification Text hereby shall be able to be shared with persons within the Konrad Adenauer Foundation for organisation of activities of our Foundation.
Unless you give your permission or they are requested by persons or organisations authorized to do so by the Law, your personal date shall not be shared with third persons. The relevant technical and legal measures are taken to prevent any rights violation during sharing of the personal data with third persons if these conditions are met.
4. Your Rights under Article 11 of the LPPD
Under Article 11 of the Law, as the owner of personal data, you are entitled:
- Conducting the activities in line with the Regulation,
- Conducting communication activities,
- Organisation and event management.

- To demand for information as to if your personal data have been processed,
- To learn the purpose of the processing of your personal data and whether your personal data are used in compliance with the purpose,
- To learn about the third parties with whom your personal data have been shared domestically or abroad,
- To request the rectification of the incomplete or inaccurate data, if any, and to inform the third persons with whom the data were shared of this rectification,
- To request the erasure or destruction of your personal data if the reasons that require processing of the data no longer exist although the data were processed in accordance with the Law no: 6698 and the provision of any other relevant laws, and to inform the third persons with whom the data were shared of the erasure or destruction,
- To object to the occurrence of a result against your side if the data were processed solely through automated systems,
- To claim compensation for the damage arising from the unlawful processing of your personal data.
Under the Paragraph 1 of Article 13 of the Law on PPD, you can communicate your request to enjoy the above-listed rights to our Foundation in written or in any method specified by the Board of Protection of Personal Data. In your application, you are required to include the following information:
- Your name and surname
- Your signature if the application is in written,
- ID number for Turkish citizens, and passport number of ID number, if available, for foreign citizens,
- Home or work address to make notifications,
- e-mail address, phone or fax numbers, if available, to make notifications,
- Subject of request
Furthermore, the information and documents relevant to the application should also be enclosed. The Konrad Adenauer Foundation Turkey shall finalize the request as soon as possible depending on the nature of the request and in maximum thirty days free of charge.
I do explicitly give consent with my free will to that my personal data explicitly mentioned as per the text hereby can be transferred, when needed, to the Konrad Adenauer Foundation Turkey and its Headquarters abroad in line with the legal reasons and purposes listed as per the text hereby.
